It can be daunting taking the first step to access counselling. I’m warm, empathic and non-judgemental. As both a counsellor and a client, I have seen the transformational benefits counselling can provide. I believe the success of the counselling process is often based on the quality of the relationship between the counsellor and client, which is based on authenticity and trust.
I provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. My role as a counsellor is to support you through this process; I won’t be making judgements, giving you advice, or solving problems. Counselling can help you to understand yourself, accept yourself, and find a way to move forwards. You may not be sure what you want from counselling, and this is something we can work through together.
My counselling approach is predominantly person-centred, which is client led. As I work with each client as an individual, I may include elements of other counselling approaches such as transactional analysis and cognitive behavioural therapy, if I feel this would be of benefit to you. Initially we’ll explore what has brought you to counselling and see if we are a good fit and feel comfortable working together. Then I’ll work alongside you, following your lead, and working at your pace. I recommend weekly sessions, particularly at the start to build the therapeutic relationship, but we can discuss what would work best for you.
My counselling room is located in central Exeter, on Queen Street. This is very close to Exeter Central Station and several car parks.
My counselling room is upstairs. If you have mobility requirements you may prefer to meet online.
